The designated themes for the not-so-new year...
1. Action + Faith -- The two are not mutually exclusive, and I'm learning that there can be a powerful alchemy when you are intentional, forward-moving, taking thoughtful steps towards a specific goal (action), while also recognizing that "it is out of your hands" -- that we are one spall pieces in a much larger design, that every experience of disappointment or discomfort has happened "to show you something," and that life is a beautiful landmine of learning opportunities should you choose to see it that way.
2. Mental Strength -- just do it, inside of a practice of honoring that which you are truly committed to, rather than listening to your reasons and excuses.
3. Confidence and Radiance -- own yourself, be humble, and bring curiosity to any second guesses.
While these photographs are from the first few minutes of the new year, it seems like a wise and right moment to actually take a step back and consciously (re)create the themes that were so fresh and exciting three weeks ago. In an era of instant gratification à la Simon Sinek, there is an opportunity to get energized by long term goals, deriving joy from the process. To this end, I taped an index card up on my door last night that best speaks to this:
get enrolled in patience and hustle.
the invitation always stands.
